A healthy smile is achieved and maintained through both preventive care and early detection and treatment of problems that do occur. Here at BlueDental preventative care is always the most important service we offer for any patient. X-rays is an important tool to help diagnose, detect disease and damage not clinically visible during a routine dental exam.
A healthy smile means no pain ,no infection, no decay, no fractures, no cracks, no gum disease, no missing teeth and perfectly white shaped teeth for proper mouth function.
The key to a healthy smile is preventive care.
Regular checkups, every 6 months ( or more often if recommended to catch any problem early), allow us to detect and treat issues before they become a problem.
Whether it is an elective or treatment procedure, we will make sure your smile is healthy and beautiful!
Dental implants are an ideal solution for missing or extracted teeth .
They are better than other alternatives like bridges because no additional teeth need to be altered to place a new tooth.
A dental implant is a metal post placed and mechanically anchored into the jaw bone. Once anchored (osseointegrate 4-6 months) to the jaw bone, an abutment is placed on top of the implant. The abutment serves as the base for your new tooth. An impression/digital impression is taken after 2-3 weeks for new restoration/appliance (crown, bridge , denture) and the process is completed.
Dental veneers are thin porcelain shells that are placed over a tooth's surface to improve the appearance of your smile. Veneers offer an extensive solution to other procedures to improve or transform the appearance of your smile. They are used to treat:
-gaps in the teeth
-discoloration and stains- that cannot be improved with teeth whitening
-chipped or fractured crowns
-worn teeth
-unusual shaped teeth
-transform your smile
Crowns are replacements for the upper part of a tooth damaged by decay or fracture, to restore its shape, size, strength and function. Crowns are needed after root canals or implants, or as anchor teeth to support a bridge. Fitting a crown requires a few visits. Initially, we will remove decay, and modify the existing tooth/teeth so that crowns(cap) and/or bridges may be placed upon them.
A dental bridge is a replacement for a missing tooth or teeth that fill the space where one or more teeth are missing. The bridge anchors an artificial tooth /teeth between the surrounding natural teeth or implants to restore the patient’s oral bite, function and helps keep the natural shape of face.
Why do I need a crown/bridge?
-to replace a missing tooth /teeth
-to protect a week tooth from breaking (from decay, or secondary decay)
-to hold together a cracked or root canaled tooth
-to change appearance of a misshaped or severely discolored tooth
-to restore a worn down tooth or broken tooth
-to cover and protect a tooth with a large filling when there is not a lot of tooth left
Root canal (root canal therapy) is a dental procedure in which diseased tissue from inside your teeth is removed, cleaned , disinfected and filled with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. Years ago, diseased or injured teeth frequently were extracted, but today, even if the pulp in one of your teeth becomes injured or infected, the tooth often can be saved through a root canal.
Inside of our teeth there is a pulp chamber that contains blood vessels and nerves. When the pulp is diseased or injured and unable to repair itself, becomes infected. The most common causes of the pulp dying are a deep cavity requiring large fillings, old fillings with or without secondary decay, a traumatic injuries to the tooth, a cracked tooth, or the pulp becomes exposed due to tooth fracture into the chamber all of which may allow bacteria and their products to enter into the pulp.
If the diseased pulp is not removed, the tissues surrounding the root of the tooth can become infected, resulting in pain and swelling. Even if there is not pain, certain substances released by bacteria can damage the bone that anchors the tooth in the jaw. Left untreated, the infection can spread to the jaw and throughout the face and body, resulting in systemic infection, and the tooth may be extracted.
When a tooth is removed and not replaced, the nearest teeth may begin to shift from their normal position and become crooked or crowded ;these teeth are more likely to have gum disease because they are harder to keep clean than straight teeth.
Root canal therapy is an effective, quick way to preserve your tooth in your jaw and the appearance of your smile.
After root canal therapy, the tooth will need final restoration. Typically, a porcelain or gold crown, is used to restore the tooth back to its shape and function.
Everyone deserves a whiter smile!
